Specifications:

2X Pneumatic Cylinders

2X Pneumatic Valves

4X 40-tooth Gears

4X 24-tooth Gears

4X 8-tooth Gears

2X 12-tooth Gears

2X 20-tooth Gears

1:15 Gear Ratio

25-50 PSI Pressure

The Engine:

Two Lego pneumatic cylinders convert linear motion of the cylinders into rotational motion via a cam-action. As the cams turn they also turn a set of pneumatic valves controlling the input air to each cylinder (like a real engine the valves have to be timed when they provide air or not). The cylinders also drive a set of 40-tooth gears to provide power to a transmission. It operates between 25 to 50 psi of pressure from an airbrush compressor.

The Transmission:

Connected to the engine, it gears the engine up by a factor of 15. In turn the ratio at the output axle is 1:15 meaning every time the engine rotates completely once, the output axle (where the wheels are) rotate completely fifteen times. The engine turns slowly however it produces a significant amount of torque.
